Earlier today, the Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) officially launched its ICT Training Programme at the MIC Institute of Technology (MIC-IT) in Penal, marking another significant step in expanding access to quality, industry-relevant skills training for citizens.

The launch reflects the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training’s commitment to ensuring that education and workforce development opportunities are accessible across Trinidad and Tobago, equipping individuals with the digital competencies needed for employment, entrepreneurship and lifelong learning.

Senator Professor Emeritus the Honourable Prakash Persad, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, was joined by Mr. Hansen Narinesingh, MP, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry, as they reaffirmed the Government’s vision of creating inclusive, community-based pathways to skills development.

In his remarks, Minister Persad highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration among agencies under the Ministry’s portfolio, noting that partnerships between institutions such as YTEPP and MIC-IT maximise resources, broaden access to training and ensure programmes remain responsive to the evolving needs of communities and industry.

The Minister also commended the collective efforts that made the initiative possible, expressing appreciation to the YTEPP team, community partners and residents for their support. Special recognition was extended to YTEPP Chairman Bishop Dr. Jones and Interim Chief Executive Officer Mr. Raymond Surujbally for their leadership and dedication to advancing YTEPP’s mission of empowering citizens through skills training.

Minister Persad also thanked MIC Institute of Technology Chairman Mr. Nazim Hosein and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Anil Ramnarine for their valued partnership and shared commitment to expanding access to quality skills training and strengthening collaboration across institutions within the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training.

Through partnerships such as these, the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training continues to build a more skilled, innovative and future-ready workforce by bringing opportunities closer to communities, fostering lifelong learning and ensuring that no citizen is left behind.

The ICT Training Programme is expected to provide participants with practical, in-demand digital skills that will enhance their employability, foster entrepreneurship and contribute to Trinidad and Tobago’s ongoing digital transformation and economic development.
