Senator Professor Emeritus the Honourable Prakash Persad, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, joined members of Government, business leaders and other distinguished guests at a reception on Sunday, 6 September 2026, to bid farewell to His Excellency Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
During his tenure, His Excellency Dr. Rajpurohit played an important role in further strengthening the longstanding friendship between Trinidad and Tobago and India, helping to translate the close ties between both nations into meaningful and practical cooperation.
In June 2026 , Minister Persad met with His Excellency to discuss opportunities to deepen collaboration in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and explore strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening skills development and workforce readiness in Trinidad and Tobago. The discussions highlighted Centurion University of Technology and Management in Odisha, India, and opportunities to draw on its expertise and experience in skills-based education and training.
This engagement reflected the Ministry’s broader commitment to building strategic international partnerships that can expand training opportunities, strengthen institutional capacity and equip citizens with the practical and technical skills required to respond to the evolving needs of the labour market.
The farewell reception provided an opportunity to recognise His Excellency’s contribution to advancing bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and India and to extend best wishes to Dr. Rajpurohit as he concludes his diplomatic assignment in Trinidad and Tobago.
