MTEST MINISTER CONGRATULATES CAPE AND CSEC STUDENTS
Senator Professor Emeritus the Honourable Prakash Persad, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, extends warm congratulations to all students who have received their Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) results.
The Honourable Minister commends students for their hard work, perseverance and commitment throughout their studies and acknowledges the important support provided by parents, guardians, teachers, principals and school communities.
“As our young people receive their results, they should be proud of the effort that has brought them to this important milestone. Whether they are preparing to enter the world of work, pursue technical and vocational training, or continue their education at the tertiary level, there are opportunities available to help them take that next step,” the Minister said.
The Honourable Minister reminds students that their examination results represent not an end, but the beginning of another stage in their educational and professional development. Students are therefore encouraged to explore the range of pathways available through skills training programmes and tertiary-level institutions, based on their interests, abilities and career aspirations.
In this regard, students are urged to consider the opportunities available through the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST) and the institutions and programmes within the tertiary education and technical and vocational education and training sectors. These opportunities can assist young people in developing the academic, technical and practical competencies required to participate meaningfully in Trinidad and Tobago’s evolving economy.
Students pursuing tertiary education are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) Programme, including the applicable eligibility requirements and procedures for accessing tuition assistance. Further, eligible students are invited to explore the bursaries and scholarships available to support their continued education and training. Students and their families should consult the relevant official channels to obtain current information on application periods, eligibility criteria and requirements.
The Honourable Minister offered reassurance to students who may not have received the results they anticipated, noting that there are multiple pathways to academic and career success.
“Your results are one part of your journey and should be used to help determine your next step. I encourage every student to consider the opportunities before you, seek guidance where necessary, and continue investing in your education, skills and personal development. Trinidad and Tobago needs your ideas, your talent and your determination.”
The Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training congratulates all CAPE and CSEC students and wishes them every success as they transition to tertiary education, skills training, employment and other opportunities for personal and professional development.
